Privacy Policy
Prepdle is used mostly by high school students, so we’ve tried to write this in plain English. It covers what we collect, why, who can see it, and how you stay in control of it.

1.The short version
- We collect what we need to run Prepdle: your account details, your answers and how long they took, your friends, and how the app is used.
- We don’t show ads, we don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
- Friends see your name, username and daily results. Your email is never shown to anyone.
- You can download everything we store about you, or delete your account, at any time in Settings.
- Prepdle is for people 13 and older.
2.Who we are
Prepdle is a daily SAT practice game: one Math question and one Reading and Writing question each day, the same for everyone. This policy explains how Prepdle (“we”, “us”) handles information about the people who use our website and apps. If you have a question about it, email hello@prepdle.com.
3.Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, password and the username you choose. We store your password only as a secure hash, so we never see it. You can also add a graduation year, an SAT date and an avatar color, and we store your time zone and your sound and vibration settings. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us.
Your answers and play
For each question you play we record your answer, whether it was correct, when you started and submitted, how long you took, and details of how you answered: choices you changed or crossed out, whether you left the page, and whether you opened the reference sheet. We use this to grade answers, keep your streak and stats, show results to you and your friends, and improve our questions.
Friends and social activity
We store your friend connections and requests, the reactions and nudges you send and receive, and the notifications we show you.
Question feedback
If you rate a question or report a problem with it, we store the rating or report, including any message you write.
How the app is used
We run our own product analytics. It records events such as pages viewed, buttons tapped, how long a page was open and how far it was scrolled, together with your device type, operating system, browser, approximate country, the website that referred you, and app errors and loading times. We use it to understand which features work and to fix problems. You can turn it off for a device in Settings.
Session replay
We may turn on session replay through PostHog, our analytics provider. When it’s on, it records what happens on screen during a visit (pages, taps, scrolling) so we can see where the app is confusing or broken. Text you type into forms is masked and passwords are never recorded. Turning off “Share usage data” in Settings also turns off session replay on that device.
Device and security information
When you log in we store your IP address and browser details with your login session, to keep your account secure and to spot misuse. Our hosting providers also keep standard server logs.
Cookies and local storage
We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage, and no advertising cookies:
- a login cookie that keeps you signed in;
- a random device ID that lets you play as a guest and carries today’s progress into an account if you sign up;
- your time zone, so everyone gets the right day’s questions;
- your sound, vibration and analytics settings for that device.
4.How we use information
We use information to:
- run Prepdle: grade answers, keep streaks and stats, and show daily results;
- connect you with friends you choose to add;
- publish combined statistics, such as the share of players who got a question right, which never identify you;
- improve questions and features, and find and fix bugs;
- keep accounts secure and prevent cheating, spam and abuse;
- send emails you need, such as password resets and email confirmations;
- meet our legal obligations.
We don’t send marketing emails. If that ever changes, we’ll ask first and every email will have an unsubscribe link.
5.What other people can see
- Anyone who has your username or Friend ID can see your name, username and avatar color, and send you a friend request.
- Your friends can also see whether you’ve played today, your streak, and your result and time for each section. A friend only sees your result for a section after answering that section themselves.
- Other players only ever see combined statistics, never your individual answers.
Your email address, password, graduation year and SAT date are never shown to other players.
7.Children under 13
Prepdle is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. Everyone confirms they are 13 or older when they create an account. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we’ll delete it and its information. If you believe a child under 13 is using Prepdle, email hello@prepdle.com and we’ll act on it promptly.
8.Teens and parents
Most of our players are in high school. We collect only what the game needs, show no ads, and don’t sell data. A parent or guardian can email hello@prepdle.com from any address to ask what we hold about their teen’s account, or to have it deleted. We’ll verify the request before acting on it.
9.How long we keep information
- Account, answers, stats and friends: for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete them right away, along with the analytics events linked to it.
- Question reports and ratings stay with the question after you delete your account, but are no longer linked to you.
- Guest play that never becomes part of an account, and analytics events not linked to an account, are deleted or made anonymous within 25 months.
- Backups and server logs are kept for up to 30 days, then deleted on a rolling basis.
10.Your choices and rights
- See and download your data. In Settings, choose “Download your data” to get everything we store about your account in one file.
- Correct it. Change your name, username, avatar color, graduation year and SAT date in Settings at any time.
- Delete it. Choose “Delete account” in Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
- Turn off analytics. Switch off “Share usage data” in Settings on each device you use.
Depending on where you live, including California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete and receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising (we don’t do either). You can use these rights in Settings or by emailing hello@prepdle.com, and you may ask someone to act for you. We’ll verify the request and answer within 30 days. We will never treat you differently for using your privacy rights.
11.Security
We protect information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access limited to the people who need it, and providers with strong security practices. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don’t use anywhere else. If a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
12.Where information is stored
Prepdle is run from the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
13.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
14.Contact us
Questions, requests or concerns about privacy: email hello@prepdle.com. We read every message.
